The Feral Cats of Freedom interview Stephen Zarlenga of the American Monetary Institute. Stephen Zarlenga draws on 35 years of experience in the world of finance, securities, insurance, mutual funds, real estate, and futures trading. He has published 20 books on money, banking, politics and philosophy.
Stephen and his colleagues are dedicated to de-mystifying money because “If it had to be summarized in one sentence it is that by mis-defining the nature of money, special interests have often been able to control a society’s monetary system, and in turn, the society itself.” So money started out being a way to exchange goods. And problems arose when people just wanted to make money from money? Is that one of the problems? Usury? Interest? Making money from derivatives or paper and not making money from investing in a cure for cancer? Should there be such thing as a moral economy or moral and just money? Should we start by putting the Fed to bed?

Francis Moore Lappe who came to fame with her seminal book "Diet for a Small Planet" joins the Feral Cats of Freedom, Dave Zollinger and Diane Kamp on news radio KMMS in Bozeman, Montana. She discusses her new book "Getting a Grip" which continues to explore where democracy is flourishing. Her last book "Democracy's Edge" inspired Diane and Dave to find out more about what democracy is and where we can find it. It's a positive look at what ordinary citizens can do to take back their freedoms by acting at a local level.
Frankie Moore Lappe is a gift to us in these challenging times.
